Time passes. Memories are made. More time passes. Memories can fade.
So how do you keep those memories from fading? As much as when we’re in the moment and we think that we’ll remember this moment for the rest of our lives, the reality is, we all too quickly forget. So how do you remember the special moments of life? What are your memory keepers?
Photo albums
Scrapbooking has become all the rage, and it is a fantastic way to store those treasured memories for years to come. For some people, however (like myself), when I set myself to store my photos, the idea of using scrapbooking as memory keepers is rather daunting because of the masses of time involved. I have resigned myself to the fact that I really don’t have time for more, and putting my photos in a basic photo album will have to do, just writing a short description beside each photo (if I’m lucky). This way my photos are organized, neat, and can be pulled out and flipped through. It may be basic, but photo albums are effective memory keepers.
Photo Picture Frames
If you’ve just got a select few photos you’d like to display, photo picture frames are great memory keepers. Either display a single frame on your coffee table, or create a set of five large frames as a focal point on your living room wall.
Digital Picture Frames
Not one for printing out your photos? Technology has made the world of photos a very quick and easy place to organize and display (if not slightly impersonal, if you’re one who likes the creative side of things). Digital picture frames are brilliant memory keepers and are great conversation starters for the guests who come visit. Show the pictures of your latest trip, child’s birthday party, or other special event. With the capacity of rotating through hundreds of photos, you’ll be able to easily share your memories with your friends.
Calendars
Not only are these great for your own use, they make great gifts as well, so you can share the special memories with those around you. Consider making these for your graduating class with memories of studies and fun times together. Or make a calendar with photos of work related events for all your colleagues as Christmas gifts.
Journal
This is off topic of photos, but many memories are not captured in photos. Journalling is an excellent way to record your memories, and these memory keepers are great to read back through and capture the adventures of life.
Really, the options are endless. Whatever way you decide to store your memories will be unique to you. Find out what works for you and go ahead and do it. You’ll enjoy the opportunity to look back on those memories in years to come.
